Travel blog · Map · Stats · Link page

Your travel blog with a map.
No tech headaches.

Write about your trip, show your real route with its elevation profile and keep track of how many kilometres, climbs and rainy days it really took – all on your own domain, with a single login. We handle hosting, certificates, updates and newsletter delivery. You ride, hike, travel – and tell the story.

Free and non-binding. We'll email you once when we launch – nothing else. By signing up you agree to be notified by email (privacy policy, in German).

Curious? Try the live demo – an Alpine crossing with map, stats and link page.

Why Travelblogs exists

On the road, you want to tell stories – not run servers

Building your own travel blog quickly turns into a project that has nothing to do with the trip: book hosting, connect a domain, set up an SSL certificate, find a theme, a map plugin that sort of handles GPX files, another one for stats, a third for the newsletter. Then come the updates – and sooner or later the moment on a campsite with one bar of signal when you have to find out why your site suddenly shows a blank page.

The alternative is social media. Everything is easy there, but nothing is yours: posts disappear in the feed, an algorithm decides who gets to see your story, there's no real map of your route, and anyone who wants to read about that mountain pass three years from now will be scrolling in vain.

Do-it-yourself

  • Hosting, domain and DNS from three different providers
  • Certificates, email delivery and backups to keep an eye on
  • Map, stats and newsletter as separate plugins
  • Updates and security holes: your job

With Travelblogs

  • One login for blog, map, stats and link page
  • Domain, certificate, DNS and newsletter delivery set up for you
  • Updates and daily backups are on us
  • Your content and your domain stay yours

What's included

Everything that tells a journey – in one place

Four building blocks that work together. The blog is the foundation; add the rest when you need it – and remove it when you don't.

Travel blog

your-domain.com

Write stage reports, upload photos, schedule posts in advance and send them as a newsletter to everyone following along – straight from the editor, no extra tool. The blog runs on Ghost, open-source blogging software that exists independently of us. Readers can subscribe for free and get every new post by email – from your own sender address.

  • Modern editor with images, galleries and embeds
  • Built-in newsletter for your subscribers
  • Fast, search-friendly pages with sitemap and RSS
  • Full export as a file, anytime

Interactive map with GPX routes

map.your-domain.com

Upload your GPX files – one at a time, several at once or the whole trip as a ZIP archive – and get an interactive map of your actual route: with distance, elevation profile and stages. Simply export your tracks from Komoot, Strava or your GPS device; a guide is included. You choose the base map, route colour and background, and every trip gets its own folder you can share.

  • Distance, elevation gain and profile for every stage
  • GPX upload as ZIP – saves lots of time on long trips
  • Broken files are rejected instead of silently accepted
  • Readers see the map without logging in

Trip stats

stats.your-domain.com

You decide what to track – kilometres, climbing, weather, spending, flat tyres, nights in the tent. In the evening you enter the numbers in a lean form saved to your phone's home screen; we suggest distance and climbing from your GPX tracks. The result is a dashboard with charts you can make public or keep to yourself.

  • Your own fields instead of rigid templates
  • Suggestions from your GPX data
  • Charts for the whole trip or individual sections
  • Public or private – your call

Link page

link.your-domain.com

Instagram, Komoot or Mastodon give you room for exactly one link in your profile. The link page is that one link: a simple page with a heading, a few words about you and all your links – blog, map, stats, donation link. Grouped if you like, in your colour. It loads without JavaScript and without tracking pixels, even on a poor connection.

  • One address for all your profiles
  • Your own background colour, text and lines adapt
  • Light and fast, no tracking

Your own domain

Bring your domain – you add two records at your provider and we show you exactly which ones. Or we register a new one for you. Either way, you are the registered owner, not us. You can grab the transfer code yourself at any time. Without a domain of your own, you start right away on an address like yourname.travelblogs.app.

One login for everything

Log in once and you're in everywhere: the blog, the map manager, your stats and the link page. No second password, no "Sign in with Google". The login service runs on our own servers. Your readers, of course, don't need an account.

Addresses the way you like them

The defaults suit most people. If not, your map becomes route.your-domain.com, or the link page lives right on your main address. Move later and the old address keeps redirecting – links you've shared won't break.

Who it's for

For everyone who travels – and wants to share it

Cycle touring & bikepacking

Crossing the Alps, following the Danube, riding to the North Cape: every stage as a track on the map, climbs and passes in the profile, the day's numbers entered in five minutes. Friends and family see where you are – and read how it went.

Hiking & long-distance trails

From the GR20 to the Camino: daily stages with elevation profiles, hut nights, blisters and views. At the end, all the single tracks become one map of the whole route.

Road trips & van life

Through Portugal in a camper or across Scandinavia by car: the route on the map, fuel stops and costs in your stats, the best overnight spots on the blog.

World trips & sabbaticals

A year on the road deserves to be remembered – for you and everyone at home. One newsletter instead of twenty messages, a map instead of "where are you now?", and an archive that's still there in ten years.

Travel bingo

Slept on a beach? Tick it off.

Turn your next trip into a game: pick a category and tap what you've already experienced. Three in a row is a bingo.

On the bingo page you can build bigger cards up to 5×5, write your own squares, print them or share them as an image – free for everyone on the waitlist.

How it works

Up and running in minutes

  1. Pick your trip and a name

What kind of trip is it, and what should your blog be called? We'll suggest an address.

  2. Choose an address

A free address with us, your existing domain – or we register a new one in your name.

  3. Choose your building blocks and pay

You see everything added up beforehand. We only set things up after payment – right on your final address.

  4. Start writing

Blog, map and stats are live, certificate and DNS are done. Upload your first track and write your first post.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When does Travelblogs launch?

We're opening Travelblogs step by step to people on the waitlist, in the order they signed up. We'll only name a date once it's certain – you'll get an email.

How much does a travel blog on Travelblogs cost?

The blog costs €9 a month. Add the map (€4), stats (€3) and link page (€1) as needed – everything together is €17 a month. A domain we register for you starts at €5 a year depending on the ending; bringing your own costs nothing extra. Cancel monthly.

Do I need technical skills?

No. Answer a few questions, choose an address and pay – we set up the rest: servers, certificate, DNS, email delivery, updates and backups. Only if you bring a domain you already own do you add two records at your provider; we show you exactly which.

How does my route get onto the map?

Via GPX files, the standard format of GPS devices and apps. Komoot, Strava, Garmin Connect and most other services let you export any tour as GPX. Upload files one by one, several at once or as a ZIP archive, and the map rebuilds immediately – with distance, elevation profile and stages.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. Bring it along or let us register a new one in your name. Without your own domain you start on a free address like yourname.travelblogs.app and can switch later; the old address keeps redirecting.

What happens to my writing if I cancel?

Your blog and modules keep running until the end of the paid month. Until then you can export your posts in one click; the file imports into any other Ghost installation. A domain bought through us belongs to you and keeps running until it expires – you'll find the transfer code in your dashboard.

Where is my data stored, and what is recorded about my readers?

On servers in Germany. Your pages carry no ads and no third-party tracking pixels. Readers don't need an account; anyone subscribing to your newsletter only gives their email address.

Can I write from my phone while travelling?

Yes. Blog, map manager and the stats form all run in your phone's browser – no app to install. Save the form for daily numbers to your home screen.

Is Travelblogs available in English?

Yes – this website already is, and the dashboard and modules are being translated before launch. The language of your own blog is up to you.

What happens to my email address on the waitlist?

We send you an email with a confirmation link. Only once you click it are you on the list; without confirmation we delete the address after 30 days. We'll write when Travelblogs is open to you and never pass your address on. Every email contains a link to unsubscribe instantly.
